Dermolepida aruensis Lansberge 1879
Authors/Creators
Description
Dermolepida aruensis Lansberge, 1879
Rhopaea aruensis Lansberge, 1879: CL.
Lepidioderma aruensis: Brenske 1895: 42.
Dermolepida aruensis: Arrow 1941: 448.
Rhopaea aruense: Britton 1957: 58.
The status of the types of Rhopaea aruensis is not clear. It was described from an unknown number of males and females from the Aru Islands, Indonesia and listed as a synonym of D. albohirtum by Britton (1957). However, direct examination of the syntypes (in IRSB) by James Harrison (University of the Witwatersrand, personal communication) and through images by me suggests that it may represent a different species. This requires further study.
