Holotrichia serrata

Description

Holotrichia serrata (Fabricius, 1787)

Melolontha serrata Fabricius, 1787: 19.

Holotrichia serrata Dalla Torre 1912: 206.

Neolepidiota obscura Blackburn, 1890: 87; Arrow 1917: 64 (synonymy).

Holotype of Neolepidiota obscura (by monotypy): gender unknown, Australia, possibly South Australia; in NHML.

Blackburn (1890) saw only one specimen of this taxon and Lea (1912) listed the type as in NHML. This is an Indian species; Blackburn’s specimen was damaged, suggesting it was transported to Australia and there is no suggestion that it has established in Australia.
