Taxonomic notes
Ia Thomas, 1902 was considered to be a subgenus of Pipistrellus by Ellerman and
Morrison-Scott (1951) but following Topál (1970 b) is treated as a separate genus by most contemporary bat systematists (Corbet and Hill, 1992).
