Type species. Umbodinia bella, sp. nov., by present designation.

Gender. Feminine.

Etymology. The generic name derives from Latin umbo = rounded protuberance + the generic name Odinia, and refers to the shiny dark brown to black lobules located between the lunule and the margins of the eyes. The specific name derives from Latin bellus = beautiful.
