Description
The neotropical genus Parentheca Berg 1891 is revised and redescribed with emphasis on male and female genitalia, and placed into "section 1" of Pentatomini which includes those genera lacking a basal spine or tubercle at the abdominal venter. Parentheca subfurcata Berg, 1891 (type species) and Parentheca aeliomorpha Berg, 1891, both from Argentina are redescribed, also with emphasis on male and female genitalia, which are fully illustrated. The lectotype and paralectotype of P. aeliomorpha are designated.
