ABSTRACT
The most used educational virtual platforms were analyzed, highlighting functions, characteristics, distribution, focus, etc. Conceptualizing utility and services they offer for teachers and students. It was found that the Canvas, Desire2Learn, and Sakai platforms are the most complete, followed by Moodle and Blackboard; unlike the latter, the former does not have adequate support, nor are they widely used. Regarding Moodle, there are many add-ons created by users; Blackboard is a paid software; Edmodo lacks functions, such as chat.
