Eighteenth century nobility: the Roman family de Cinque

The work contains a transcription and analysis of a long essay entitled ‘Alla Sacra Rota per Girolamo del Cinque, Roberto Vittorij: Memoriale, con il quale si prova la nobiltà della Famiglia del Cinque Nobile Romana’, published in 1713, and intended to demonstrate the nobility of the Roman family de Cinque. The essay thus shows how nobility was then defined. The name of the author, Lorenzo Ferrucci, is probably a pseudonym for Girolamo de Cinque (1674–1746).
