To examine the concept of reading in Arabic is the title of this study. The concept of reading in Arabic language is the entry to knowlegde and experience. This concept is usually expressed by the infinitives which derive from (تلو), (درس), (رَتِلَ) and (قرأ) words. By root, (تلو) means he/she/it obeyed, (درس) means he/she/it repeated, رَتِلَ means he/she/it was tidy and he/she/it pronounced well and (قَرَأَ) means he/she/it collected. Reading also includes writing, listening and speaking skills. The importance of reading is about the skills to use language. The skills to use language develops through listening, speaking, reading and writing education. Reading contributes readers to develop mentally and spiritually, it makes the significance of science to be recognized, it transfers the knowledge heritage and therefore, it enables individuals to improve themselves. The methods that encourage reading are important for the readers’ love to read, to comprehend what they read and to realize what they read. The readers who gain reading skill, can reach a certain mental level by means of analysis and synthesis methods. Reading disorders, which prevent healthy reading, may also be due to mistakes of teachers, books and students. Reading is a notice that requires a constant and disciplined effort in our lives.
