This workshop report summarises the discussions from an event held at the James Hutton Institute, Aberdeen, on the 31 st of May, 2018 (Fig. 1). The workshop was titled “Social Innovation in Rural Areas in Scotland” and provided an opportunity for practitioners, policy-makers and researchers to network and discuss the challenges facing social innovation (SI) in rural areas.
