OB01053 - Halsi Plates of Mrgesavarman, Year 8
Description
Halsi Plates of Mṛgeśavarman, Year 8, in four parts: a, b, c [plates], d [seal], e [ring]). The three copper plates ( 20 x 7 cm.) of the grant proper are held together by a large copper ring with an oval seal (2·5 x 4 cm.) inscribed with the name Śrī Mṛgeśvaraḥ. The inscription on the plates (IN01053) records how, in the eighth year of his reign, the Kadamba king Mṛgeśavarman had a Jain temple built at Palāśikā. The king then endowed the temple with a gift of land.
