Vespa ducalis var. soror du Buysson, 1905 (1904): 490 (key), 519. Type data: Lectotype female, MNHN. Type locality: Kiangsi, China.

Distribution. India: Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh. Elsewhere: China (including Hong Kong); Laos; Myanmar; Thailand; Vietnam. (Archer 1989, Carpenter & Kojima 1997, Nguyen et al. 2006 b, Girish Kumar & Srinivasan 2010, Srinivasan & Girish Kumar 2013, Barthélémy et al. 2014, Girish Kumar et al. 2015c, Pham & Li 2015).
