Description
Metapion merale (Faust, 1885)
Distribution in Iran. Golestan (Wanat 1992; Ghahari & Colonnelli 2012), Northern Khorasan (Hoffmann 1968 as Apion merale), Mazandaran (Legalov et al. 2010).
New material examined. Razavi Khorasan province, Kuh-e Binalud Mts., Torqabeh, 1700 m, N 36°17’ E 59°17’, 4♂♂, 2♀♀, 9.v.2008, leg. & collection M. Košťál.
General distribution. Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.
Plant associations in Iran. Occasionally found on Artemisia herba-alba Asso (Asteraceae) (Hoffmann 1968). All Metapion are associated with Rutaceae, and several species were collected by M. Košťál on Haplophyllum spp. in Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan (M. Košťál, personal communication).
