Ort Ban Saleui, 20 ° 13'30"N, 103 ° 59'26"E, 1350 - 1900 m, 21.05.2011, leg C. Holzshuh + locals (1 ♀, OML), same except 27.04.2012 (1 ♀, OML). China, 1000 0 1300 m, Shaanxi, Qinling Mts., Xunyangba (6 km E), 23.V- 13.VI.1998, I. H. Marshal leg. (1 ♀, OML). Remarks.—Two species of Gryponeura are known, G. quadrimaculata described from Khasia Hills, India, and G. orientalis (Westwood 1874) described from Sri Lanka. Both are very similar. According to Benson (1954) they can be separated by the length of the pubescence on the head and thorax. Gryponeura orientalis has longer pubescence on the temples and mesonotum, some of it longer than the diameter of the hind ocellus. Gryponeura quadrimaculata has this pubescence only half to three-quarters this length. In the specimens examined, the pubescence compares to the latter. These are the first records of G. quadrimaculata from Laos and China.
