The competence-oriented tasks for would-be teachers of Mathematics and Informatics to study Linear Algebra

Description

The article looks into the issue of forming the professional competence of would-be teacher of Mathematics and Informatics in the process of professional disciplines study. The purpose of the article is to show the possibilities of the discipline «Linear Algebra» content in the development of professional competence of would-be teachers of Mathematics and Informatics. The paper gives the theoretical analysis of the achievements made in the topic of the research, and analysis the peculiarities of the discipline "Linear Algebra" in the development of students’ professional competences in teacher training universities. The study describes an approach to the preparation of the would-be teacher, the approach to the formulation of the competence-oriented tasks made on the basis of the analysis of the achievements on the problem of the competence. The tasks are divided into five types: algorithmic, research, mathematical, instrumental, modeling. There are three levels of their resolving: recreation, establishing connections, reasoning. The practical significance of the research is to develop the system of competence-oriented tasks in accordance with the content of the modules of the discipline "Linear Algebra". The article presents a system of tasks on the topic "Matrices and Determinants". We have found out the conditions of studies of Linear Algebra to develop students’ competences while solving competence-oriented tasks. We tested the created conditions using both traditional and computer-oriented learning tools. Experimental research helped us verified the efficiency of the competence-oriented tasks for the development of professional competences of would-be teachers of Mathematics and Informatics. This made it possible to identify ways to improve the efficiency of Linear Algebra study in teacher training universities, to confirm relevance and necessity of developing and implementing competence-oriented tasks of Linear Algebra into the process of mathematical preparation students.

The obtained results testify to the increase of the level of competence formation of students (the qualification code of the program “014.04. Secondary Education. Mathematics, Informatics") while learning Linear Algebra with help of the proposed method.
