First record of Oecothea praecox (Loew, 1862) (Diptera, Heleomyzidae) from Slovakia

Oecothea praecox Loew, 1862 (Diptera, Heleomyzidae) is a new species for the Slovak fauna. It was discovered in the Medzivrstvová jaskyňa cave, the Malé Karpaty Mts, 308 m a.s.l., 165 m long. The fly was widespread in the cave from euphotic up to aphotic zone in relative high number. Mating was observed in one case in February 2019. Eggs were not present in females. The taxon is supposed to live in Central Europe in caves permanently. The diagnostic characters are presented basing on analyzed male type-specimen and material available for studies. In the article, there are also summarized cave records of Oecothea fenestralis (Fallén, 1820) in Slovakia from the years 1976-1993 and a discussion about the distribution of both species in European caves.
