Genus Neosyringophilopsis Skoracki and Sikora, 2005

Neosyringophilopsis Skoracki and Sikora, 2005: 22.

Type species: Neosyringophilopsis acanthizus Skoracki and Sikora, 2005, by original designation.

Members of this genus inhabit quills of primaries, secondaries and coverts. They are mainly associated with passeriform birds from the families: Acanthizidae, Aegithalidae, Estrildidae, Leiothrichidae, Locustellidae, Phylloscopidae, and Troglodytidae. One species of this genus has been noted on representatives of piciform birds of the family Lybiidae.

The Nearctic fauna comprises only one of the eight described species in this genus, N. troglodytis (Fritsch, 1958).
