This species is known from numerous countries around the world: Angola, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Canary Islands, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Hawaii, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Les Saintes, Malaysia, Martinique, New Caledonia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Puerto Rico, Reunion Island, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, USA, Venezuela, West Indies and Western Samoa. The measurements of the specimens collected agree well with those of Denmark & Muma (1989).
