Midoria hamulata Li & Li, 2011, sp. nov.

Description

Midoria hamulata sp. nov.

Figs 13–16, 31, 34

Description. Head, pronotum and scutellum brown, front of pronotum and area of crown adjacent to eyes yellow brown. Median length of vertex about as long as 4/5 of half width between eyes, shorter than scutellum (Fig. 31). Face black (Fig. 34).

Male genitalia: Paramere long, anterior portion about equal to caudal portion, caudal portion somewhat robust, apex strongly recurved medioventrally, with pyramidal process and some macrosetae preapically (Figs 13, 14). Connective T-shaped with dorsomedial keel (Figs 13, 14). Aedeagus shaft compressed, with two processes arising from each side of posterior margin basally, each process with spine projecting basolaterad (Figs 13, 14). Pygofer side ovoid, with long hooked posterior process from ventral margin (Fig. 15).

Other characteristics are as shown in Figs 13–16, 31, 34.

Measurement. Length (including tegmen): 3, 5.9–6.0 mm.

Hosts. Unknown.

Type material. Holotype 3, CHINA: Yunnan, Fugong, 18 May 2010, coll. Li Hu. Paratype: 13, CHINA: Yunnan, Fugong, 18 May 2010, coll. Li Hu (GUGC).

Remarks. This species is similar to Midoria funebris (Jacobi), but can be distinguished by the shape of the male pygofer side, the shape of the paramere and the shape of the aedeagal ventrosubapical processes (Figs 13, 14, 15).

Etymology. The species name is derived from the shape of the male pygofer processes (hamate, hamatus).
