Description
This paper explores the concept of drift sand-Podzol hydrosequences, based on recent observations (exposures and hand augerings) at a small interfluve in the Mol-Dessel area, NE Belgium. It shows that drift sand characteristics and the soil horizon morphology of the buried Podzols covary in a slightly undulating landscape, according to their vertical position with respect to an assumed palaeogroundwater table. Notwithstanding the fact that several issues still need to be resolved, the investigated sequences have great potential as a palaeohydrological archive.
