Strategies to overcome entry barriers to foreign markets

Subject of research – a portfolio of strategies to overcome barriers to entry to foreign markets
and their attributes.
The purpose of the paper is to provide a systematic presentation of the main approaches to the
choice of a strategy to overcome entry barriers into external markets.
The methodology of the work – process and system approaches to the formation of strategy and
its implementation, the method of grouping – to identify the strategy and its attributes.
The results of the work – systematization of strategic alternatives to overcoming the barriers
to entry into the external markets, suggestion of the attributing features for each of the proposed
strategies, supporting strategies that ensure the implementation of each of these strategies to
overcome the barriers to entry into the external market are formed, the cascade of time periodization
of strategies depending on the level of barrier of the external market is proposed.
Conclusions – An analysis of the level of barriers of the external market and the internal capabilities of
the enterprise to overcome the set of existing barriers allowed to aggregate processes of entry of meat
industry enterprises into foreign markets and, on this basis, to summarize the portfolio of strategies
to overcome the barriers to entry into the foreign market and the corresponding strategies for the
implementation of each of the proposed strategies. The formed portfolio of strategies to overcome
the barriers of entry into the external market and strategies to support their implementation allows
to manage the process of entrance of the company into the external market and reduce the risks of
uncertainty of the environment.Тhe efficiency of the company’s entry into the foreign market depends
on the right choice of the strategy to overcome entry barriers, the choice of which is determined by the
level of market barriers and costs to overcome the barriers of such entry.
