Description

Role of Ali in the Politic Events of the Early Islamic Period
Ali, one of the first Muslims acted important role in the period of early Islamic history. Due to fact that he is one of the Prophet's nearest relatives he claimed to be caliph, but he failed for this goal. Henceforth his tribe Hashimites paid homage to the first caliph lately. Both in the political activities of the periods of Abu Bakr and Omar, Ali generally remained out of politic area. Then he became one of the candidates of caliph in Council (Shura) formed by Omar, but Muslims preferred Uthman, not him. He was elected caliph after Uthmans murdered by the rebellions. As soon as he started his duty he faced to difficult politic problems. First, all Muslim leaders did not pay him homage. Second, Aisha, Talha and Zubeyr collected his contraries in Mecca and Basra. And Muawiya, the governer of Damascus, began to call all Muslims to take revenge of Utman and to incite them against Ali, and declared that he did not accept him as caliph. All his attempts to solve these internal problems failed. At the end he was murdered by the Kha-ricites coming out his army.
