Zollinger–Ellison Syndrome: A Critic Review

Description

Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is a rare condition of gastrointestinal system, in which one or more tumors in the pancreas or the upper part of the small intestine (duodenum). These kinds of tumors are called gastrinomas, which secrete large amounts of the hormone called gastrin, which result in stomach to produce too much Hydrochloric acid (HCL). The excess HCL then leads to peptic ulcers (PU), as well as diarrhoea and other symptoms. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES) which affect all age groups as well both the genders. The disease may occur at any time in life, but it is more common in age group of 20 and 50 years. The treatment for the Zollinger Ellison syndrome is, Medications (H2 receptor blockers) to reduce stomach acid and heal the ulcers of the stomach, duodenum, and surrounding area of the gastrointestinal system.
