Description
Slums are one of the major problems of Indian cities. As per 2011 census, 65 million people live in slums. India has one of the largest slum dwellers in the world along with China. Though the emergence of slums is associated with industrialization, urbanization globalizationand migration we are unable to single out one particular reason for the emergence of slums. The picture of slums varies from area to area. Due to diversity of the slums, there is a want of new interpretation to understand the nature of slums. But in the 21st century a new perspective has emerged in the study of slums.
