The species is not difficult to identify with the help of keys in recent floras. Yet it is not clear why in Belgium it has gone unnoticed for so long: overlooked? really not present? Neither is it understood how it has arrived at the recently discovered location in Aalter (prov. Oost-Vlaanderen). The paper briefly presents possible introduction pathways and describes how L. confertum can be differentiated from related species.
