Analysis of the South Korean Ocean Geological Survey and Research

The paper concerns current development of geological survey in the South Korea. Nowadays Korean government conducts a wide variety of research in coastal environments and marine geology to support scientific understanding, develop tools and technology, and provide maps, data, and other information needed by resource managers and decision-makers. Therefore, the progress and improvements in the development of marine geology program are clear and evident. The coastal and marine geology program currently supported by Korean government, shares a wide range of resources. Besides scientific and research activities, it also includes popularization information for the citizens helping them to explain and illustrate scientific concepts of marine geology, scientific activities, expertise, technology, tools, and other educational resources concerning understanding of the ocean. Current paper reviews current rapid development and perspectives in the geological survey of the Republic of Korea.
