PRIORITY GIVEN TO AGRICULTURE IN THE ADMINISTRATIVE NADUS OF NANJANGUD

An attempt is made in this paper to explain about Priority given to Agriculture in the Administrative Nadus of Nanjangud. Agriculture is the economic backbone of a state. Agriculture has developed itself progressively since pre-historic age in the form of farming or peasantry in the NanjangudTaluk of Mysore district also it was the pulse of the economic condition. Agriculture or farming was the livelihood of majority of the population not only in this Taluk but for the entire India. It was also the main source of income in India. Hence, the development of agriculture or peasantry meant the development of a state or the entire nation, which was clearly understood by our ancestors.¹ According to a kannada proverb “aadumuttadasoppilla” so goes the farming of NanjangudTaluk area of Mysore district. It was evident that there was no crop that was not grown here.
