Robotic disassembly of EV batteries: autonomous, semi-autonomous and human-guided robotic systems – REBELION Info-pack

Authors/Creators

Description

Info-pack (factsheet) of the REBELION project (Horizon Europe, GA 101104241), part of a series of five presenting the project's key results to industry, policy and research stakeholders. REBELION addresses the waste management challenges of lithium-ion batteries from electric mobility and supports circular battery value chains.

EV batteries are complex, unstandardised and not designed for disassembly, and their designs change rapidly. This info-pack presents the advances in robot autonomy needed to handle diverse designs and uncertainty, human-in-the-loop systems with AI-assisted human control for tasks where full autonomy is not feasible, and the role of design for disassembly.
