Thermal Comfort Survey Data – Mannheim, Germany

Anonymised thermal comfort survey data collected across five public squares in Mannheim (Alter Meßplatz, Friedrichsplatz, Marktplatz, Paradeplatz, Schillerplatz), gathered under the Urban ReLeaf project (Horizon Europe, Grant Agreement No. 101086638). The survey explores how these public places are experienced by residents during hot weather, covering perceived thermal comfort (temperature and sun exposure), preferred locations and amenities on hot days, use of public drinking fountains, home heat protection, and demographics. Fielded in German, through two collection modes: a digital form (235 responses) and a paper form transcribed afterwards (45 responses), 280 responses in total. An English-translated version of the combined file is also provided (column headers and categorical values only; free text remains in German). A map of the five survey squares, labelled with response counts, is also included. Personal and directly identifying data have been removed.
