Description
This dataset details the ecological risk in East Anglia, UK, under future water abstraction scenarios as part of STARS4Water report D4.2. The Ecological Risk due to Flow Alteration (ERFA) tool was applied across 13 catchments under three socio-economic abstraction scenarios for two future climate scenarios and two future periods.
The tool compares the departure of future river flow indicators from a baseline period. In this instance, daily mean simulated river flow from CS-N0W (Rameshwaran et al., 2025) was used, with future flow projections driven by two UKCP18 ensemble members (RCM07 and RCM13), each with three socio-economic future abstraction scenarios (sustainability-first, SUS; business-as-usual, BAU, and economic growth, EG) . The period 1989-2018 was taken as the baseline, 2040-2059 for the near future and 2060-2079 for the far future.
This study is part of the STARS4Water project, aiming to improve the understanding of climate change impacts on water resources availability and the vulnerabilities for ecosystems, society and the economy at river basin scale: https://stars4water.eu/
