Description

This deliverable (D3.2) is a report on best practice guidelines for standardisation, harmonisation, product generation and data exchange for biodiversity data, focusing in particular on genomic, imaging, biologging and passive acoustic monitoring networks. More specifically, this document aims to describe the data formats used for each of those novel data types, to serve as reference for the data type-specific communities.

This document is the fourth deliverable of WP3, following a) “D3.1 DTO-BioFlow data flow blueprint”, which described the envisioned data flows and set up the general framework for data flow towards EDITO for each of the biodiversity data types, b) “D3.3 DTO-BioFlow data product inventory” which presented a summary of available, but yet inaccessible in certain cases, marine biodiversity data, including metadata descriptions, which will be made accessible through data products created within WP3 and c) “D3.4 Biodiversity observation network data online available in the DTO repositories_M20” which was based on D3.3, summarized the standardisation work and the data flow status for each data type and provided links to the published data records in EMODnet Biology. The goal of D3.2 is to compile best practices, guidelines and recommendations for data generation, quality control and formatting to Darwin Core Archives (DwC-A) for subsequent publication to EurOBIS and EMODnet Biology. In the cases where the data types do not allow for formatting to DwC-A, the guidelines and recommendations for direct publication to the EDITO data lake are presented.
