Description

Starting in July 2026, the Bioplastics Recycling Cluster will hit the road.

Bioplastics are often misunderstood. Are they truly sustainable? What role can they play in replacing fossil-based plastics? Can they actually be recycled? And if so, what technologies are needed?  What does the science say about keeping biobased resources in the loop?

We have lots of answers. And we’d like to share them with you in your language in a series of dedicated events and webinars.

Three research and innovation projects funded by the CBE Joint Undertaking: ReBioCycleMoeBIOS, and PROSPER are bringing their researchers, innovators and experts directly to you. Together, we are developing practical, scalable solutions for bioplastics recycling: from smarter collection and sorting to cutting-edge recycling technologies to the production of high-quality new materials.

We are taking this knowledge on the road.

 Workshop Tour | Italy · Spain · The Netherlands · Belgium · Germany · Ireland · France

Join us for an interactive session near you, featuring:

  • A clear, accessible introduction to bioplastics and their advantages over fossil-based plastics
  • The latest results from three leading European research projects on bioplastics recycling
  • An open discussion with experts — your questions, your challenges, your ideas
  • Concrete, positive messages about the future of bioplastics in a circular economy

Who should attend?

This event is designed for small and medium enterprises, entrepreneurs and professionals working at the intersection of sustainability and action: companies producing goods and packaging, waste management operators, bioeconomy and green economy practitioners, advocacy organisations, and policy professionals engaged with frameworks such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

If you are looking for science-based, solution-oriented perspectives on the role of bioplastics in tomorrow’s circular economy, this event is for you.

The message is simple: Bioplastics can be recycled. Bioplastics do not necessarily have to biodegrade; they can stay in the loop. And the transition away from fossil-based plastics is within reach.

Join us to be part of the conversation.

Agenda

  • Opening: What are bioplastics, and what role can they play in replacing fossil-based plastics? Examples of successful applications.
  • Can bioplastics be recycled, and how?
  • The financial cost/benefits of recycling bioplastics.
  • Open the floor for questions to the experts.
