MSL/RAD Dose rates
Authors/Creators
Description
The MSL/RAD data set contains dose-rate measurements from the Radiation Assessment Detector (RAD) on board the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) rover. The provided product focuses on the E-detector dose rate and includes both the original and notch-filtered time series. The filtering procedure interpolates the data to the operational sampling cadence of 88 measurements per sol and applies a digital notch filter to suppress the diurnal 1-sol variation and its harmonics up to order 12. The output file contains datetime, day of year, sol, original dose rate in microgray per day, and the corresponding filtered dose rate. The filtered data are intended to provide a cleaner time series for studying longer-term variations such as Forbush decreases and solar energetic particle related changes at Mars, while retaining the original measurements for comparison.
