Description
Ulysses COSPIN/KET observations used in the analysis.
The analysis of WP5 (D5.3) employs data from the Ulysses Cosmic Ray and Solar Particle Instrument (COSPIN), specifically the Kiel Electron Telescope (KET) P190 channel, which provides measurements of galactic cosmic rays (GCRs) throughout the Ulysses mission. These calibrated count-rate data form the basis for identifying and characterising Forbush decreases (FDs) associated with interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs).
Where available, the particle measurements are complemented by in-situ magnetic-field observations from the Ulysses magnetometer, enabling the identification of ICME flux-rope structures and the investigation of their relationship with cosmic-ray depressions. All particle data are processed at an hourly temporal resolution to ensure consistency with the FD analysis framework.
The dataset extends the SPEARHEAD FD catalogue beyond the near-Earth environment by providing observations at a wide range of heliocentric distances and heliographic latitudes sampled during the Ulysses mission for the selected events. The resulting event list of D5.3 contributes to a comprehensive assessment of ICME-related cosmic-ray modulation throughout the heliosphere.
