Reports on network activities incl. impact & policy messages - IV

This deliverable presents the outcomes of the NATURANCE Knowledge Network (KN) engagement activities and the final edition of the NATURANCE Festival 2026, highlighting the project’s contribution to advancing nature-based insurance and investment solutions across Europe.

The document is structured into two main parts.

Part I (Chapter 2) provides a comprehensive overview of the NATURANCE Network of Knowledge Networks and summarises the project activities in which Knowledge Networks actively interacted and participated. It outlines the engagement strategy adopted by the consortium, the mechanisms for monitoring participation, and the diverse formats through which collaboration was operationalised. These include Innovation Labs (IL), webinars and podcasts, technical workshops, lunch break seminars, the Naturethon initiative, training and capacity development events, the final KN event, and participation in international workshops and conferences. The chapter also details joint activities with other Horizon Europe (HE) projects and reflects on the broader outcomes and impacts of this sustained engagement. Together, these activities demonstrate how NATURANCE fostered interdisciplinary exchange across finance, insurance, research, public authorities, and civil society, strengthening the “network of networks” approach.

Part II (Chapter 3) focuses on the final edition of the NATURANCE Festival 2026, titled “Insurance and Investment Opportunities for Nature-Based Transformations.” This chapter provides an in-depth account of the scope, planning, communication efforts, and agenda development of the Festival. It documents the key highlights, including keynote interventions, presentations from NATURANCE Innovation Labs, World Café sessions, and exchanges with sister HE projects and high-level speakers.

The Festival served as a culmination of the project’s engagement efforts and as a platform to share and discuss the main outcomes of NATURANCE. It enabled dynamic interaction among project partners, Knowledge Networks, other Horizon Europe initiatives, and policy actors with direct links to the European Parliament and the European Commission. The event reinforced the policy relevance of adaptation finance, risk transfer mechanisms, and Nature-based Solutions, and positioned the project’s policy briefs as valuable reference documents for ongoing work in environment- and finance-related committees and working groups.
Chapter 4 synthesises the policy and cross-cutting messages emerging from both the broader project activities and the Festival discussions. It highlights shared priorities such as scaling adaptation solutions, internalising the cost of inaction, improving data transparency, aligning insurance markets with resilience objectives, unlocking private capital, and strengthening governance coordination across levels.

Finally, the deliverable concludes with acknowledgements to partners, Knowledge Network Champions, sister projects, and institutional stakeholders whose contributions made possible the collaborative and interdisciplinary achievements documented herein.

Overall, this deliverable demonstrates how NATURANCE successfully mobilised a diverse community of practice, fostered cross-sectoral learning, and strengthened the policy dialogue around nature-based insurance and investment solutions, leaving a foundation for continued collaboration beyond the project’s duration.
