D6.4 VALIDATION OF THE SHAPE MORPHING ROBOT IN SELECTED APPLICATION SCENARIOS

Description

To realize adaptable robots, the MAPWORMS project thoroughly investigated the anatomy and function of different marine annelid species (Deliverables D2.1, D2.2, D2.3, D2.4), laying the foundation for understanding and subsequent mathematical simulation of major movement concepts (Deliverables D3.1, D3.2, D3.3). In the next step, smart materials (Deliverables D4.1, D4.2, D4.3, D4.4) and manufacturing methods were combined to mimic worm-based concepts (Deliverables D5.1, D5.2, D5.4). Based on an analysis of task primitives and a first screening of potential application scenarios (D6.2), the present deliverable now describes such applications in more detail, together with results from the first evaluation using dedicated test setups.
