Description
The purpose of this report is to introduce the reader to key concepts of fibre optic sensing often referred to as DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensing). The DAS field laboratory in Svalbard is presented and several examples of various recordings ranging from whale calls to earthquakes and ocean gravity waves are presented and discussed with respect to coupling and signal effects.
