This paper was presented at the UPEC conference in London.
The authors have developed innovative first- and second-life busbars that enable simplified disassembly of battery packs and facilitate the economic reuse of individual cells in a second life cycle. Electrical, mechanical, and thermal comparisons with conventional busbars demonstrate that the developed solution maintains equivalent performance levels. As a result, second-life battery cell connections can be produced with performance characteristics comparable to those using new cells.
