Description

This infographic presents a comparison of the results from the first and second editions of BioMARatona 'Praias com Vida', a citizen science event aimed at documenting the biodiversity of the Portuguese coastline. The BioMARatona, initially launched in Catalonia by the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC), is led in Portugal by the CIBIO-BIOPOLIS team in partnership with the Centro de Ciência Viva de Vila do Conde, the Observatório Litoral Norte, the Centro de Monitorização e Interpretação Ambiental (CMIA), CIIMAR, the University of Porto, the Museu de História Natural e da Ciência, the Jardim Botânico do Porto, and the Galeria da Biodiversidade — Centro Ciência Viva. These entities are responsible for mobilizing participants and coordinating activities. We also had the valuable support of the company AGIR 360 for creating audiovisual material, and the event was funded by the European projects ANERIS, MINKE, GUARDEN, and ECS.
