Description
This document is the final report (Deliverable 7.5) of the FutuRaM project, presenting the main results, datasets, and methodological developments for assessing secondary raw materials (SRMs) and critical raw materials (CRMs) in Europe’s urban mine.
FutuRaM develops a harmonised analytical framework covering seven key waste streams, integrating updated and newly generated datasets within a coherent structure. A novel recovery model distinguishes between CRMs present in waste and those recoverable as secondary raw materials, complemented by a recoverability assessment and long-term scenarios up to 2050.
All data are quality-assessed and aligned with FAIR principles, and are made accessible through the Urban Mine Platform. The project also adapts the United Nations Framework Classification (UNFC) to anthropogenic resources and supports EU policymaking, including contributions to the Critical Raw Materials Act and WEEE revision.
Overall, this report provides an integrated knowledge base and tools to support evidence-based policymaking, strategic planning, and monitoring of secondary raw materials in Europe.
