  • 1. GPC

Description

This report, D3.1 The Green Producers Tool Updated, documents the technical advancements and functional enhancements integrated into the Green Producers Tool (GPT) since the launch of the StreamSCAPES project in March 2025. Aligned with the objectives of Task 3.2, the updates focus on improving data accuracy, usability, and sector-specific relevance for carbon accounting in the audiovisual industry. Key technical developments include the integration of country-specific electricity emission factors for 97 countries based on Ecoinvent datasets, enabling precise Scope 2 and Scope 3 calculations for data processing, file management, and digital production activities such as rendering and storage. Furthermore, the tool’s energy and transport modules have been expanded to encompass electric systems, refrigerated transport, and certified energy sources, ensuring a more comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach.

Beyond emission modeling, the GPT has been upgraded with structural improvements to enhance transparency and auditability across the production value chain. These include refined material flow tracking, enhanced backend administration for emission factor management, and a dedicated documentation system for audit-ready evidence. The user interface has also been optimised for future interoperability with the Green Streaming Tool (GST), while the groundwork has been laid for AI-supported functionalities, such as automated data extraction from invoices, planned for early 2026. Collectively, these updates reinforce the GPT as a scalable, evidence-based platform for emissions measurement, demonstrating the project's consistent progress toward establishing standardised sustainability frameworks for the European audiovisual and streaming sectors.
