Heatwave Hazard Assessment – EURO-CORDEX Based Climate Indices (RCP4.5 & RCP8.5) – İzmir Province, CRIZ-ERS
Description
This dataset contains the results of a heatwave hazard assessment for Izmir, Turkey, based on high-resolution regional climate model projections from EURO-CORDEX.
The workflow follows the methodology provided in the CLIMAAX Heatwaves workflow and applies user-defined absolute temperature thresholds
Heatwaves are calculated using the XCLIM climate index library based on absolute temperature thresholds:
- Maximum daily temperature ≥ 35°C
- Minimum daily temperature ≥ 20°C
- Duration thresholds: 3–5 consecutive days
Three hazard indicators are computed:
- Heatwave Index (HWI)
- Heatwave Frequency (HWF)
- Heatwave Total Length (HWTL)
Scenarios:
- Historical (1971–2005)
- RCP4.5 (2006–2100)
- RCP8.5 (2006–2100)
Outputs:
- GeoTIFF rasters (EPSG:4326)
- Annual aggregated values
- Mean spatial summaries
Unit:
- HWI: number of heatwave events
- HWF: events per year
- HWTL: days per year
Resolution:
~12 km (EUR-11 domain)
