OASIS poster - 2nd OSCARS AGM 2026
Authors/Creators
Description
The OASIS project (Open Audiovisual Science Innovation Scheme) aims to develop research instrumentation in the humanities and social sciences involving audiovisual corpora. One of its primary objectives is to foster the Europe-wide deployment of free and open-source tools such as Celluloid, developed within the framework of the Consortium Huma-Num for the annotation, analysis, and archiving of video applied to scholarly activities through the Consortium CANEVAS (Consortium for ANnotation, analysis, and archiving of Video for Academic Activities).
The exploration of audiovisual materials indeed constitutes a rapidly expanding field of scholarly inquiry. While film analysis has long been established and institutionalized within film studies and historical research, it now extends across a broad range of academic disciplines, including sociology, media studies, education sciences, political science, and theatre studies. The OASIS project focuses on the analysis, enhancement, archiving, and dissemination of video corpora for research in the humanities and social sciences. It promotes open science methodologies and supports the development of innovative tools tailored to video-based research, thereby contributing to the enrichment of the European research landscape.
