Description

Abstract: The Mediterranean region is ideal for implementing solar energy due to its high irradiance and clear-sky conditions. More specifically, Mediterranean islands present important challenges for the operation and maintenance of PV systems but also offer an excellent opportunity to increase energy security and sustainability. In this regard, it is beneficial and necessary to have trained personnel in this region to analyse the degradation process of PV technology under Mediterranean conditions and identify best practices in implementing PV systems to improve their performance and extend their lifetime. The Photovoltaics Reliability Operations and Maintenance Innovative Solutions for Energy Alliance (PROMISE) aims to create an alliance of photovoltaic excellence through scientific, engineering, and research performance within the Maltese research community reliability of existing and emerging module technologies and systems, including the digitalisation aspects for prediction and optimisation algorithms for innovative solutions to support the energy transition. PROMISE includes a knowledge gain and transfer framework, capacity-building activities, workshops, advanced schools, training programs, internships, meetings, mentoring, research management, and administration upskilling. The present document describes the main objectives and activities of the PROMISE project.
