Description

This report examines the use of single-count measurements for studying solar X-ray events with SOHO/EPHIN and the SIXS-P instrument aboard BepiColombo. EPHIN SSD-A count rates are compared with expectations derived from RHESSI observations using a validated response function, showing good agreement when the detector threshold is lowered to about 15 keV. In addition, the photon sensitivity of BepiColombo/SIXS-P is simulated to estimate expected solar flare count rates, though direct comparison with observations is not yet possible due to the mission’s cruise configuration.
