Description
AlgaEurope is a unique opportunity to learn and understand all about algae production and commercialization and interact with over 400 key players from more than 45 countries.
One of the key success factors of AlgaEurope is the close cooperation between EABA - European Algae Biomass Association and DLG Markets Benelux.
The main target of EABA is to act as a catalyst for fostering synergies among scientists, industrialists, and decision-makers in order to promote the development of research, technology, and industrial capacities in the field of Algae. DLG Markets Benelux is part of DLG Markets GmbH, a global partner for companies and organizations in the agrifood sector and a leader in the organization of trade fairs and conferences worldwide. The strength of DLG Markets lies in an international network, innovative industry solutions and comprehensive expertise in the agrifood sector.
In the presentation made by Dr. Giannis Penloglou from Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) entitled “𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲-𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗢₂ 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻”, key results and lessons learned from the project where shared regarding:
- Optimization strategies for microalgae cultivation under industrial CO₂-rich gas streams.
- Photobioreactor operation challenges when moving from lab to pilot scale.
- Balancing biomass productivity, CO₂ capture efficiency and precursors accumulation toward realistic advanced biofuel value chains.
In general, the session highlighted how microalgae production systems are increasingly evolving toward industrial realism, where scalability, stability and sustainability are equally critical.
