Description

This object contains T cells from bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and peripheral blood samples collected from four patients with severe COVID-19-associated acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The data is compatible with contig_list and paired TCR sequencing information can be integrated using combineExpression. The original study by Zhao et al. identified clonally expanded tissue-resident memory-like Th17 cells (Trm17 cells) in the lungs of severe COVID-19 patients, characterized by expression of IL-17A and GM-CSF, which may contribute to pulmonary hyperinflammation. For full details on the experimental design and findings, see Zhao et al. (2021) Science Immunology.
