Training of Trainers Report

The Training of Trainers was implemented under Work Package 5 (WP5) - AI Training Toolkit within the Artificial Intelligence for Youth Work project. The activity aimed to prepare youth workers from Italy, Romania, Greece, and Portugal to use, adapt, and multiply three core project results:

• The AI Competence Framework for Youth Workers
• The AI Training Toolkit (workshop plans and materials)
• The Map of AI Tools & Assessment Matrix

Two online training courses were implemented, each lasting three hours, following the same session plan: welcome and icebreaker; project and competence framework overview; guided tour of AI tools; workshop simulations in parallel breakout rooms; and plenary sharing with a focus on next steps. The only variation between the two dates concerned the workshop simulations and facilitation teams:

• ToT 1 – 13 October 2025 (facilitated by Lascò and Contextos):
  • Prompt Me Right – a workshop on prompt engineering and effective communication with AI systems.
  • The AI Sidekick: Be the HERO of your story – originally a face-to-face workshop, adapted by Contextos for online delivery, exploring AI as a supportive “sidekick” for real youth challenges.
• ToT 2 – 17 October 2025 (facilitated by TEAM4Excellence and KEAN):
  • When AI Gets Wrong – workshop on recognising and working with AI errors, bias, and misinformation.
  • AI PROMPT LAB – practical laboratory on prompts, including “prompt battles” and ethical prompting.

Across both ToTs, 49 youth workers participated in four distinct AI-related workshop formats, all aligned with the AI competence framework and the EU principles of trustworthy AI. Participants also worked hands-on with the AI Tool Map and Assessment Matrix, consolidating their ability to evaluate AI tools before introducing them in youth work settings. 

The ToT:

• strengthened youth workers’ practical and pedagogical competences related to AI;
• increased their confidence in using AI responsibly with young people;
• created a transnational network of multipliers ready to pilot the AI4YouthWork Toolkit in diverse local contexts.
