Description
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the industry of an intelligently managed living environment. The main factors for the formation of this trend are the rapid spread of information technology and the availability of modern technological “smart” equipment, which increases the feeling of comfort and facilitating household work. In addition, the living environment and its design are actively influenced by dynamic changes in people’s way of life, which leads to changes in design methods. Nowadays, in the fi eld of design, a new generation of methods is preferred. These methods are based on a human-centered approach, which actively involves the user in the design process and uses the most of his experience. Objectives. The objectives of this study are to determine the way for application of scenario method in creating an artistic image of an intelligently managed living environment. Methods. The modern process of housing design has an interdisciplinary nature and requires a systematic approach. The living environment should satisfy the inhabitants’ individual needs that change over time and family development. Therefore, it needs a prognostic design, which will allow the adaptation of housing without radical reconstruction. The scenario method has become a practical tool for the implementation such a process of predictive design. Results. The results of the research support the idea that modern housing is impossible to imagine without equipping it with intelligent devices for climate management, security, lighting, etc. The article interprets the meaning of the “Intelligently Managed Environment” (IME) concept. IME of housing is a modern living environment, equipped with high-tech devices under a central computer control that can detect the physical state of the environment and residents, providing for their requests and responding accordingly, taking stand-alone solutions to increase the level of comfort, optimize the consumption of resources, support the health and safety of the home and residents. All services providing by this system were classified in six groups: climate control (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, humidification); lighting control (natural: mechanization of curtains, blinds, artificial: brightness, color and groups of lamps); housing security (penetration control, control of engineering systems, fire protection, video surveillance, alarm buttons; presence simulation); management of multimedia systems (multi-room, video systems and home cinema, internal communication); power management (control of electrical appliances, separate sockets or their groups; alternative and backup sources of power supply); health service (monitoring of life support systems, assistance to the elderly and people with physical disabilities). The living environment has not only a practical purpose, but also plays an important role as an object of aesthetic perception for the residents. Since ICS of housing has a high concentration of technical equipment, it requires a special designer’s attention when creating an artistic concept of space for the organic technology integration in the overall design. Thereby, the study analyzes the main groups of modern technological equipment, which forms and fills IME of housing. As a result, the connection of the equipment with the visual environment was revealed – there were established characteristic types of equipment placement and its infl uence on design: completely hidden equipment, partially hidden equipment and undisguised equipment. There were also identified the main tools for creating an IME artistic image: form and compositional principles, color of objects and environments, light and projections, transformation of planning and constructive transformation of objects. Scenario method aims to develop scenarios, which give an opportunity to present different functioning aspects of the created design-object in reality. The creation of the living environment scenography includes the following elements: spatial environment (a permanent architectural shell); household processes, conditioned by the premises function and the way of the family life; objects that technologically provide processes and decoratively complement the environment artistic image. The article describes the project strategy of scenario modeling, created to systematize the IME design process. This strategy is based on human-centered design methods, and it allows creating an environment design that best suits the needs and preferences of its residents The process of the creative scenario modeling consists of three stages: 1 – “Analytical”; 2 – “Conceptual”; 3 – “Detailed”. The task of the first stage is to identify the constituent elements of the scenario system. The second stage of modeling is aimed at creating a complex scenario for the IME of housing functioning. The third stage should result in a comprehensive detailed design solution. Therefore, at the last stage, it is necessary to perform the following steps: speculative scenario playback and correction of inconsistencies in case of their detection; clarify the conceptual approach to the environment artistic image creation and methods of its reproduction; selection of appropriate equipment for providing the functional areas. Conclusions. The present results are significant in expansion of professional ideas in the field of interior design, solving a wide range of scientific and methodological tasks in design activities, improving its design and artistic language. Therefore, the main task of the interior designer is a clear understanding of the technological capabilities and design features of an intelligently managed comfortable living environment and modern methods of creating its artistic image.
