Fixed and implant-supported restorations composed of digital impressions using intraoral scanning systems are an advancement of prosthodontics. This review scrutinizes accuracy and the outcomes of digital impressions in the fixed and implant-supported restorations compared with traditional techniques. Literature search using the PubMed and Google Scholar databases was realized with the studies published between 2016 and 2021, which encompassed digital impressions in prosthodontics. Accuracy assessment and comparison with conventional techniques were the bases for the inclusion of specific studies. For single and short-span implant restorations, digital impressions demonstrated high accuracy (10-40 micrometer deviations); complete-arch scanning produced acceptable accuracy (139-185 micrometer deviations). Digital methods showed similar or even superior marginal fit compared to traditional techniques. According to digital impressions, 92-9-99.0% clinical outcomes of digital restorations show about 92.4. 98% success rates in digital restorations between 1-3 years of the implant. Sense of high precision and timeliness are viable due to digital impression Introduction. Although, the relevant inclusion of clinical indications for the digital flow is mandatory. Standards for the assessment and long-term validation need to be practiced in future research.
