Description

A workshop conducted with 19 participants concerned with UK legume production, processing and consumption, carried out a series of activities to understand how the ecosystem services derived from legumes could be better recognized and valorised. During the workshop, participants discussed and formulated the list of ecosystem services and benefits from legumes and voted for their top three priorities. The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats from valorising ecosystem services of legumes were assessed. Participants discussed the factors (drivers of change) determining whether the opportunities and threats occur, and the drivers considered to have greatest potential impact on the valorisation of legume ecosystem services were identified. Actions were proposed for industry, policy, research and society to address these uncertainties.
